The town of Suzhou is a collection of small town areas within a quickly developing city that is inhabited by a population that is incredibly diverse. The city is one of the wealthiest in China and with a proximity to Shanghai that makes it within striking range four tourists it has grown in popularity over the last two decades. This is an image of one of the many canals in Suzhou. Homes and businesses line the canals and the waterways appear to be used more for trash disposal than supplying the city with fresh water.

I love that you shot this on a cloudy day so that the colors are somewhat muted but the tree is so vibrant. The angle you shot from gives everything depth and the water takes your eye right to the vanishing point.
You can see a little of the busy city in the signs off to one side but the calm water and the draping tree leaves give the image an overall feeling of calm. If you were staging this to tell a story you might include drapes blowing out the open window or maybe a child leaning over the wall to see the water to add interest. It's the small details that really sell an image. Beautifully done.
